Holter Interpretation
Ambulatory ECG monitoring allows assessment of cardiac rhythm over an extended period during normal daily activity and sleep. It is particularly useful when arrhythmias are intermittent or when quantification of arrhythmia burden is required.
Holter monitoring may be useful for:
- Investigation of syncope, episodic weakness or collapse
- Quantification and characterisation of ventricular or supraventricular arrhythmias
- Assessment of heart-rate control
- Monitoring response to antiarrhythmic therapy
- Screening patients or breeds at increased risk of clinically important arrhythmias
- Assessment of intermittent rhythm abnormalities not captured on a resting ECG
